THE LAW OF RECEPTION I

SB 1.18.28 TRANSLATION
The King, not received by any formal welcome by means of being offered a seat, place, water and sweet addresses, considered himself neglected, and so thinking he became angry.
PURPORT
The law of reception in the codes of the Vedic principles states that even if an enemy is received at home, he must be received with all respects. He should not be given a chance to understand that he has come into the house of an enemy. When Lord Krsna, accompanied by Arjuna and Bhima, approached Jaräsandha in Magadha, the respectable enemies were given a royal reception by King Jaräsandha. The guest enemy, namely Bhima, was to fight with Jaräsandha, and yet they were given a grand reception. At night they used to sit down together as friends and guests, and in the day they used to fight, risking life and death. That was the law of reception.

(Although i sincerely feel that i can never light a candle in comparison with the blazing fire that Rasala Prabhu/Ralph Laurino of ProtectACow has ignited in the two pillars of spiritual life, namely Cow Protection (CP) and [dissemination of] Brahminical Culture (BC), still i wish to point out that) last night i went to YouTube and typed 'Hare Krishna,' and on the first page i was'tunned to see a video clip of Bhakta George Harri'son singing in concert OUR SWEET LORD, HAAARE KRISHNA. I watched it, transfixed to the past time of early days of the 60s/70s, and how Prabhupada transformed America and the world by first converting the hippies into Happies. Next, i came upon two new postings (or new-er) clips from 1967, San Francisco Hare Krishna, meaning Prabhupada Consciousness. I watched them and immediately i was thinking that, 'wow, the rabindra-Expose' video is having the subtle impact of clearing the decks of the poison Guru-killers in [pseudo] ISKCON, and possibly evoking others to glorify Srila Prabhupada, the True Guru in this way. But then this morning when i viewed again the HKM History on ProtectACow Weblog, i realized that this presentation would have had the same effect or even more so. Rasala presents the HKM History in still life form, and soon thereafter the video History is making its amazing debut - a true rekindling of original Prabhupada Consciousness that was the lightning rod of the 60s counterculture, and quintessence of the HKM.

 

So, i feel grateful to be a servant of ProtectACow's leading the way in the Re-Revolutionizing process via CP and BC, which alone can give the panacea of peace and satisfaction to a world on the brink (and beyond!) of total ruination/spiritual bankruptcy and distress on all levels.Protecting Cows is essential for all human beings and those calling themselves Prabhupadanugas. If ';devotees' wish to end the interpersonal conflicts and turn around the negative PR of the HKM, all they have to do is turn their attention to Cow Protection and Prabhupada-Consciousness (Brahminical Culture), because these two items are the only difference between cheating religion and True Religious principles. If we ignore our responsibility to our Mothers and Fathers, the cows and bulls, and go on with heads in sand, while millions of these innocent creatures are brutalized yearly, then we shoudln't expect that there will be peace in human society. The Bhagavatam affirms this in every phase: Happiness is earned by seeing to the happiness and comfort of the most important animal, the Cow and the Bull. Misery is the result of neglecting this Brahminical Culture, Prabhupada Culture of Equal Vision.

If we really want to cultivate the human spirit in society we must have first-class intelligent men to guide the society, and to develop the finer tissues of our brains we must assimilate vitamin values from milk. Devotees worship Lord Sri Krsna by addressing Him as the well-wisher of the brähmanas and the cows. The most intelligent class of men, who have perfectly attained knowledge in spiritual values, are called the brähmanas. No society can improve in transcendental knowledge without the guidance of such first-class men, and no brain can assimilate the subtle form of knowledge without fine brain tissues. For such important brain tissues we require a sufficient quantity of milk and milk preparations. Ultimately, we need to protect the cow to derive the highest benefit from this important animal. The protection of cows, therefore, is not merely a religious sentiment but a means to secure the highest benefit for human society.

After good rains the grazing ground for the animals was full of green pasture, and both the bulls and the cows sat down on the grass fully satisfied. The cows, followed by their calves, appeared tired of grazing, because of full milk bags. Calmly and quietly the cows and calves rested and ruminated, chewing their cud.
Protection and grazing ground for the cows are among the essential needs for society and the welfare of people in general. The animal fat required for the human body can be well derived from cow’s milk. Cow’s milk is very important for human energy, and the economic development of society depends on sufficient food grains, sufficient milk, and sufficient transportation and distribution of these products. Lord Sri Krsna, by His personal example, taught us the importance of cow protection, which is meant not only for the Indian climate but for all human beings all over the universe.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 3.2.29 Purport
With only these two things, cows and grain, humanity can solve its eating problem. Human society needs only sufficient grain and sufficient cows to solve its economic problems. All other things but these two are artificial necessities created by man to kill his valuable life at the human level and waste his time in things which are not needed. Lord Krsna, as the teacher of human society, personally showed by His acts that the mercantile community, or the vaisyas, should herd cows and bulls and thus give protection to the valuable animals. According to smrti regulation, the cow is the mother and the bull the father of the human being. The cow is the mother because just as one sucks the breast of one’s mother, human society takes cow’s milk. Similarly, the bull is the father of human society because the father earns for the children just as the bull tills the ground to produce food grains. Human society will kill its spirit of life by killing the father and the mother.

Has this civilization enhanced the cause of equality and fraternity by sending thousands of men into a hellish factory and the war fields at the whims of a particular man?

      SB 1.10.4 PURPORT

     The basic principle of economic development is centered on land and cows. The necessities of human society are food grains, fruits, milk, minerals, clothing, wood, etc. One requires all these items to fulfill the material needs of the body. Certainly one does not require flesh and fish or iron tools and machinery. During the regime of Maharaja Yudhisthira, all over the world there were regulated rainfalls. Rainfalls are not in the control of the human being. The heavenly King Indradeva is the controller of rains, and he is the servant of the Lord. When the Lord is obeyed by the king and the people under the king's administration, there are regulated rains from the horizon, and these rains are the causes of all varieties of production on the land. Not only do regulated rains help ample production of grains and fruits, but when they combine with astronomical influences there is ample production of valuable stones and pearls. Grains and vegetables can sumptuously feed a man and animals, and a fatty cow delivers enough milk to supply a man sumptuously with vigor and vitality. If there is enough milk, enough grains, enough fruit, enough cotton, enough silk and enough jewels, then why do the people need cinemas, houses of prostitution, slaughterhouses, etc.? What is the need of an artificial luxurious life of cinema, cars, radio, flesh and hotels? Has this civilization produced anything but quarreling individually and nationally? Has this civilization enhanced the cause of equality and fraternity by sending thousands of men into a hellish factory and the war fields at the whims of a particular man?
     It is said here that the cows used to moisten the pasturing land with milk because their milk bags were fatty and the animals were joyful. Do they not require, therefore, proper protection for a joyful life by being fed with a sufficient quantity of grass in the field? Why should men kill cows for their selfish purposes? Why should man not be satisfied with grains, fruits and milk, which, combined together, can produce hundreds and thousands of palatable dishes. Why are there slaughterhouses all over the world to kill innocent animals?
